An heirloom portrait is a classical style of children’s photography that is designed as a forever piece of art. A beautiful and timeless heirloom piece is thoughtfully designed at each step to ensure the final piece of art is treasured for generations.
What is an Heirloom Portrait?
What age is recommended for Heirloom Portraits?
Your child should be able to sit up, so around 6 months to approximately 8 years.
What should my child wear for their Heirloom Portrait?
For a true heirloom, you’ll want a classic look that stands the test of time. Traditional choices are ruffled collars, lace, and smocked styles. The Southern Style Boutique stocks many of these classics and can make recommendations for you in store if you need help with the perfect selection!
What is the cost for an Heirloom Portrait?
The base cost for your Heirloom Portrait is $390. This includes your in-store session and a print matted to a total size of 14 inches ready to be framed. You will also receive the matching digital file (printable up to 8x10).
Yes! If you choose, you may use your deposit to apply toward a larger size or different display option. Once you have selected your wall art, you may add on extra digital files and/or velvet matted folios. Grandparents also love heirloom portraits, so you’ll want to consider purchasing additional pieces of wall art for gift-giving as well!
Do you offer other sizes or products?
What should I expect the day of the session?
You’ll want to arrive at the store 15 minutes before your scheduled session. This will give you time to do any final primping and allow your child to get comfortable in the environment. You can also use this time to look over product samples and think about which options you like best for your home.
We will spend approximately 15 minutes photographing your child. If they are relatively comfortable, we recommend that parents stay out of sight as much as possible for the best results. Keep in mind that we LOVE children, and we know that kids will be kids; we fully expect this and know how to handle it. :)
It’s also important to note that many Heirloom Portraits are not big smiles! We are looking for a timeless, classic expression that captures the essence of your child at this age. You should choose the image that your heart says YES to. You’ll know it when you see it.
Immediately following the session you will view the images we have captured on the computer monitor and make your selection for your wall art, plus any additional images you love and need. This shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes. The images you will see are directly out of camera, but know that your finished portraits will be fully edited to perfection.
It’s helpful to bring an additional person who can keep an eye on your child while you are making your portrait selections. Since you will be completing your purchasing decisions at the time of your session, anyone needed to make these decisions must also be present.
Who should come to the session?
Can I include siblings or family in this session also?
Heirloom portrait sessions are for one child only. If there are siblings to be photographed, you will need to book one session per child. For sibling or family sessions, you can book a custom session through Whitney Scott Photography by clicking the inquiry link on our website or sending an email to info@whitneyscottphotography.com.
All products will be shipped directly to your door! Matted art prints and Amalfi handmade paper panels will arrive in 3-5 weeks. Due to the handcrafted nature of the product, Florentine framed masterpiece canvas wall art will arrive in 8-12 weeks. Digital files will be emailed the week following your session for you to enjoy and share.
